Course Introduction

The main task of positive psychology is to clarify the factors that promote optimism and to use scientific methods to understand how to accept the trajectory of the world.

In the past, psychology paid more attention to morbid psychology and mental illness, constantly trying to correct personal shortcomings, trying to find out the impulses or traumatic events that the client had experienced, to explain today's personality. Positive psychology is not only concerned with solving pain, but more importantly is how to find happiness.

Positive psychology is divided into three pillars: positive emotion, positive traits, and positive organization.

Positive emotions: When we encounter interesting things, we will feel happy; when encountering things beyond our control, we will feel scared. Happiness does not mean the complete absence of negative emotions. As long as the human body experiences more positive emotions than negative emotions, it can be said to be in a happy state.

Positive traits: Some people are born optimistic and some people are born pessimistic. Although their nature is "hard to change", it is not "immovable". Positive psychology emphasizes learned optimism, that is, we can learn to be optimistic through learning. Seligman divided positive traits into six categories, including wisdom and knowledge, courage, humanity and love, justice, cultivation, and spiritual transcendence.

Positive environment: refers to an environment that is more likely to cause or promote positive emotions in individuals, such as family relationships, interpersonal interactions, teamwork, etc., which support us to maintain good feelings.
